Update:

We have been living in the new house for about 2 weeks now. There is still a lot to do around here but with baby's arrival any day now we figured (and my mental state required it) that we should get as settled as possible!

The main floor bathroom is taking shape. We needed to at least get the shower done so I wouldn't have to keep going over to the old house take a shower. We also finally put a mirror up so I can even do my hair and makeup here too!

I love the sinks. I could marry them.

We got a bid for someone to do our brick and after talking to our awesome tile guy, John decided it just couldn't be all that hard. Sooooooo they just figured it out! It's not completely done-we had to wait to get the range backsplash done and now we just need some free time to finish.

Still no cabinet drawers, shelves or doors...don't get me started.

The extra couch is just waiting for me to buy fabric and get it re-upholstered. The floors need to be cleaned but I was tired of doing it every single day so I decided to just wait until anyone working in there was finished.

And this room is just waiting for someone to come live in it! We put sheets on the bed last night (it was harder than I think it should have been lol). I need to still put some things away but my mom washed all of the baby stuff since our washer and dryer weren't hooked up yet and our car seat finally came. If baby came tomorrow we would at least be able to handle it!

Our bedroom is lacking in serious decor and drapes but I love it so much already. It has taken the place of our living room for me. I just hang out in here all day. Weird the bedspread looks hot pink, but it's actually more of an orangy coral color.

We still have some electrical work being done along with our home audio and security system stuff. Hopefully all of that will be wrapped up in the next few days. I'm tired of constantly having workers in my house!

Well since our house is still unfortunately relatively empty, Jake and John have taken up remote control car racing in our upstairs. I think I need to buy John his own. Forgive Jake's outfit...we went over there when he was still in his jammies :)

We took MY baby furniture from 27 (almost 28 eek!) years ago which my parents have lovingly kept all these years. It was a bit yellowed so John gave it a new coat of white and painted the tops brown.

The kitchen is coming, slowly but surely. All the lighting is finally in (I think. I may have stopped paying attention) and the appliances are all in place. None of them work yet but that's minor! We are STILL waiting on finishing up our cabinets. We ordered them 3 1/2 months ago, finally got the base parts 3 weeks ago, and we still have no drawers or doors. This is a long story though. Blah.

We put down the dining room floor for family home evening a few weeks ago. The family that lays hardwood together stays together! Right? That is the saying?

This beaut is going in the main floor bathroom. Thank you Downeast :) For now, it has found a home in the guest bedroom.

The still un-named baby's room is almost there. The dressers still need knobs and I need a nice big comfy chair, but not too big since the doorway to the room is only 28 inches. Serious bummer. The orange and brown kids rocker was my brother's when he was little. I won't say how old he is, but it's older than me! I don't feel like I am 'nesting' yet, but that's probably a good thing since I don't technically have a place to 'nest'.

Jake LOVES his room. I don't think he would trade us for ours even though it's tons bigger and has a tv. It is the perfect boy room. When we are working at the house he will go up there and sit on his bed and read books for hours. He is ready to move in.

John spent yesterday meshing and mudding the area for brick. I am so excited about this. I do constantly think about the many ouchies and scrapes that will come from having this in our house but it's worth it. I hope.

John has loved having the opportunity to do all of this work on our house and using all the tools he has stockpiled over the years. We both love that it has US stamped all over it, we've put in a lot of hard work, and that we feel like it is ours. I will just love when we live there.

Ring in the new year!

Well we really thought we would be in the house by now but whatever your time frame is, triple it. Whatever your budget is, double it (actually we have done pretty well on that yay!) We really have been waiting and waiting and waiting on kitchen cabinets which has been a bummer, but it has also allowed us the time to get some other things done that we may have put off for awhile.

Kitchen Floor:

Entryway: (the white part is just the upside down carpet protecting the floors for now)

Our bedroom is just about done except for some electrical and hanging the fan:

Upstairs bathroom:

Still need to paint the cabinets and put up one wall of wallpaper...

Main Floor Bathroom: Yeah this one is going to be awhile...

Baby's room: (don't mind the cream rug on the crib. It was drying out.
Plus they sent the wrong size zebra rug.)

John lightly sanded and sealed Jake's floor:

And we finally got our cabinet boxes in! Hopefully we will have all the doors
and trim pieces by the middle of next week:

I'm excited to get all of the plastic pulled off tomorrow and seal those babies up! I'm not totally sure I'm sold on the floors WITH the countertops WITH the color of the walls WITH the brick, but the only thing that is remotely changeable is the color of the wall so we will wait until all the cabinets and appliances are in to see how it looks.

We have already started moving some things over, but not any of the main furniture stuff. Hopefully by the end of next weeeeeeeeek!

We are such hoarders.

Too Too Excited!

John and Jake have been working on the baby's room for the last few days and I am so excited about it that I'm putting pictures on here before it is even done. Everytime I walk in I make audible squealing noises.

It started like this:

They took the clutter:

 We ripped the carpet out:

Sanded and restained:

Painted and added a chair rail:

And then John proved he is far more talented than I will ever be:

I. LOVE. IT.
