Too Too Excited!

John and Jake have been working on the baby's room for the last few days and I am so excited about it that I'm putting pictures on here before it is even done. Everytime I walk in I make audible squealing noises.

It started like this:

They took the clutter:

 We ripped the carpet out:

Sanded and restained:

Painted and added a chair rail:

And then John proved he is far more talented than I will ever be:

I. LOVE. IT.

Taking our time...

Fortunately (or unfortunately) we haven't had to rush any of this process since we still have a home to live in.

We cut a new doorway (although that power box is still there)

                                           Put in some skylights :)

                                               Finally got sheetrocked!

Built the arch for the brick (time to start putting the kitchen back together)

                              Had our appliances delivered prematurely...

Tore up the main floor bathroom (which we weren't planning on doing for awhile)

Started painting the baby's room (oddly similar to Jake's room here lol)

Putting the kitchen back together from the ground up!

                                      Celebrated Halloween (our least favorite)

Helped Grandpa pick grapes to make grape juice...

And celebrated 6 years of marriage. I love him more everyday.

We really think everything is going to start coming together quickly from here on out. Hopefully we can have a couple of good weeks and weekends and be moved in by Christmas. Before Christmas. As in by December 11th. That's my goal whether or not it is anyone else's!

Tennis break!

Not much had been going on around the house until this week. The month of September gets ruled by tennis and we don't have much time for anything else.

We put down part of the new hardwood:

                                                  Sanded and stained baby's floor:

                                                       And the mud room floor:

Now we finally have people knocking out walls! The kitchen wall is gone and the ceiling in our bedroom is gone. A dumpster and a half later:

(This framed in part is our closet)

Electricians and plumbers working the rest of this week. Hopefully?

A few good weekends and we've ripped out carpet, painted a few rooms and made a HUGE mess upstairs. The carpet had to go in most places and we pulled up pink, green and brown shag to find beautiful hardwood floors under all of them! They need a tiny bit of work but they really are in such good shape.

Pink bedroom/guestroom:

Green Room/mud room:
The paint looks green in these pictures but it's definitely more gray.

Front room:

Everyone is pitching in!

Our hardwood is here! It's dark. Really. Dark. We wanted dark. But it's dark. Dark.

The baby's room floor was a labor of love. The old carpet pad and disintegrated in spots and was stuck to the wood. After a few hours of backbreaking scraping, we got most of it up. It needs the most work, but shouldn't be too bad.

Because of the pitch of the roof we hoped we would be able to raise the ceilings a bit in the master bedroom. John is pretty tall and the ceilings in the upstairs are pretty low. The people that built the house were all under about 5' 7".

It started with a little bit of mess...

...and I came back a few hours later to this. It's only about 1/10th of the ceiling done too.

2 Months Later

All of the previous pictures were from the first time we walked through the house. 2 months and some signed paperwork later, it's ours and it has been cleared out! (almost)

Master Bedroom:

Baby's Room:
You can't really tell but the carpet in the lower right hand corner of the picture had been covered by a bed the whole time the it had been there and it was a good 2 inches higher in that spot. Some seriously shag carpet.

Front Room:

Dining Room:
Poll! Who thinks the glass on that built in cabinet should stay? The cabinet definitely stays, but the glass? Yay or nay?

Kitchen:

Master again:

Jake's room:
Super cool.

This checkerboard beauty floor is in the basement. We are going to try and clean it up and see how it looks. There are a few tiles missing but I don't even know where you look for stuff like that to replace them!
